The show, not the temperatue..
google it.. I'm willing to bet you a thousand dollars it was mid-80's that day. 100 degrees? not close.
The next year in Hartford was a heat wave.
This was the most intense GD-related show I ever saw. And by that, I mean The Grateful Dead themselves, 100 times from '79-93.. including many considered all-time classics I will not bother naming here to convince you. The Q were better.. End of story.. to me.
When they went into The 11 the place was SHAKING.
INTENSE.

Even with the ~100 degree sun pounding on us all, the energy in Hartford that night was electrifying, and the music that was played matched up to it ten fold.
The Disco Biscuits' set to open was no slouch either!

after a killer 2nd set in great woods the night before, and pretty much knowing a help>slip>franklin's medley was one night overdue i decided to drive down to hartford and was treated by the best phil show i'd seen to date, and have seen (or heard?) since.
phil said something about it being their best show to date, and warren and jimmy (who were SO locked in all night) ran straight at each other for huge hugs at the end of the night. it was one of those special nights were you could feel it in the air.

To those who think that this was one of the best PLQ shows, you're out of your mind. This is THE BEST PLQ show. Okay, I'll settle down, just happy to finally have, as a previous reviewer noted, a 'listenable' version of this fantastic show. This was the 'meat' of a three show sandwich for me that weekend: SCI Friday in Central Park, Phil in Hartford, then Panic in Delaware. It was worth every mile, but I couldn't tell what the other two bands did, because this show was just that good. Thanks for the upgrade.

this is an awesome upgrade. i've been waiting for a soundboard since the show. as mentioned in my other review, this was a dance fest and by far one of the best shows i've been privileged to see phil play.
even on the small computer speakers, i can tell that this is far beyond the other sound available. where or where has the soundboard gone? a matrix mix with this would be maximal.
long live cosmic charlie!

Definitely my favorite Phil show. I am truly proud, happy, thrilled, etc. to have been there that beautiful day in CT. Got tickets day of the show and proceeded to dance my bottom off. This recording is MUCH better than what I had previously heard. Years later, this show still holds a special place in my heart.

Early Phil can be a drag, endless, mindless noodling. This show is not that. Great coherence of the tunes, good, not great sound, missing the low of the lows and the highs of the highs but the midrange has got the creamy guitar sound that really lets you hear what they are up to. Song selection and performance is excellent.
Hlep>slip>11 etc. is totally cool
Highly recommended. i am going to give it 5 stars for performance (that era) but only 4 stars for sound quality as though it is very, very good, it is not great.

I agree with Patrick, this is a HQ fob recording and a significant upgrade on the previously seeded Ehrsam recording. I suspect that most of you have not heard this show as it had not been available in sbd or as a fob recording and frankly, with all due respect, previous seeds have been unlistenable. This is one of the best shows of a great year by the Q and arguably one of the best performances of the material since 1991.
